Design

Our switchboards are designed to safely fulfill all the functions required by the customer, the various electrical regulations and the supply authority rules. Thoughtful planning makes use of both tried and proven engineering practices together with the latest and innovative methods to achieve this result in the most cost effective way.

The design should always exceed the electrical parameters of the installation in terms of load carrying capacity, fault interruption, supply characteristics etc, both present and future. Due consideration is also given to the operating environment where the switchboard will be installed, to ensure it can withstand all external adverse elements encountered.

Quality

Our switchboards are built using heavy gauge metal which is especially important in adverse situations, e.g. weather exposure. Metal surfaces have industrial grade power-coated finish applied, having first been pre-treated with zinc primer. This exceeds the standard used by many of our competitors.

Only the best quality switchgear and components are used, sourced from recognised industry leading suppliers with local back up and support, both with warranty and readily available spare parts.

Additionally, switchboards are built for ease of use by the installer, having well designed mounting lugs, generous cabling passages with more than adequate access to device terminals which are sized to complement the cable sizes being used.

Altapower have been manufacturing switchboards of the highest quality since 1999. With over 40 years of combined experience specifically in the electrical industry, we have become involved in a wide range of varied applications.

All design, manufacturing, assembly and distribution are undertaken from our premises in Derwent Park, Tasmania. We have access to type-tested switchboard assemblies and our workshop is well equipped with busbar-forming machinery and test equipment. All sheet-metal work and powdercoat painting is contracted out to professional providers who are constantly monitored for adherence to the highest standard. We only use high quality materials throughout and industry standard best practice.

As a licensed Electrical Contractor we have the capacity to supply switchboards to all states of Australia and have a full understanding of Supply Authority requirements and local service and installation rules.
